It was just a week or so ago that NIS America announced a January 30 launch for the PC version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA. While the console localization patch is still on track for that date, the PC version has been delayed once more.
Unfortunately, there’s no new date to go along with that delay, as it’s been pushed back indefinitely. While it was a tough decision for the publisher, they have a lot of issues they need to fix before the PC version is ready.
Low framerate issues and memory leak problems have been plaguing the port for a while, so they’re going to need to dig deeper into the core programming to make substantial and lasting improvements. This involves moving everything over to a completely different developer, hence the severe delay.
In the meantime, NIS America VP and COO Mitsuhara Hiraoka says they plan to update everyone on the status of the PC version as work progresses.
