VIDEO: Cult Director Minoru Kawasaki’s New Tokusatsu Film “Outer Man” Trailer

The official website for 57-year-old cult tokusatsu director Minoru Kawasaki’s new film Outer Man has posted a 70-second trailer introducing its story synopsis and main cast. Since the mid-1980s, Kawasaki has directed many tokusatsu-influenced/parody films, such as Chikyubouei Shoujyo Iko-chan (1987), Ika Wrestler (2004), Everything Other than Japan Sinks (2006), The Monster X Strikes Back/Attack the G8 Summit (2008), and the most recent Earth Defense Widow (2014).

Same with his previous films, many tokusatsu actors are cast in the film:

Shun Shioya (Yousuke Shiina/Air Ninja Hurricane Red in Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger)

Yasuhisa Furuhara (Sousuke Esumi/Go-On Red in Engine Sentai Go-onger)

Junki Tozuka (Shunpei Nara in Kamen Rider Wizard)

Takumi Tsutsui (Toha Yamaji/Jiraiya in Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya)

Ryu Manatsu (Gen Otori in Ultraman Leo)

In addition, 29-year-old singer Gero makes his acting debut and also performs the theme song “You Can

Do It!! ~Yume wo Oikakete,” which is written/composed by Kenichi Maeyamada/Hydain.

The story is set in a world where a tokusatsu hero TV series “Outer Man” has gained national popularity for

50 years (just like the Ultraman series). One day, a giant alien exactly look like Outer Man appears in Japan.

The truth is soon revealed that, unlike the story in the TV series, Outer Man is an evil alien who has been

trying to brainwash Japanese people to invade the earth. The actors who played the hero in the TV series

decide to fight against the real Outer Man by transforming into the villain alien in the series, Sylvie Seijin.
