Town of Tsuruta Holds “Japan’s Strongest Bald Head” Competition

The town of Tsuruta in Aomori Prefecture, Tōhoku, Honshu, Japan is hosting the “Japan’s Strongest Bald Head” competition as part of the “Tsuruta Baldness Meeting”, a social event which encourages people not to be embarrassed by their thinning hair. This meeting takes place on November 14, 2015, at the town hall in Tsuruta.

The competition involves a tug-of-war style battle. Each player wrestles for control of a string which is attached to their head (and the head of their opponents) via a suction cup. Each contest lasts 30 seconds, and players who manage to overpower their opponents for two-out-of-three matches advance within the tournament.

There are no age or gender requirements; players need only in register in advance by phone, fax, or e-mail. The due date for registration is November 06, 3015, and there is an entry fee of 1000 yen ($8.27 US). The tournament is limited to 64 participants total.

Remember, folks: bald is beautiful.
