Shueisha has opened the official website for its new rookie manga contest “Yabuki Kentaro Manga Award” and started accepting submissions. The closing date of the submissions will be September 30 at 23:59. Yabuki, best known as the illustrator of the To Love-Ru and To Love-Ru Darkness erotic comedy manga series, serves as the chairperson of the contest.
The prize money for the grand prize winner is 500,000 yen (about 4,880 US dollars) and that for the second winner is 100,000 yen (975 US dollars). Both winners’ works will be posted on the Shonen Jump + site. There are no limits for genre (including love comedy) and the number of pages (less than 60 is recommended). Works already published/printed elsewhere are not accepted. All of the submitted works will be shown to the public online via the Shonen Jump Rookie site. The winners will be announced around November or December of this year.
