“The Red Turtle” Nominated For Animated Feature Oscar – “Your Name.” And “Miss Hokusai” Miss The Cut

This morning, Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced its nominees for the 2017 Oscar Awards.  La Tortue rogue (“The Red Turtle”), a French / Japanese animated film directed by Michaël Dudok de Wit and co-produced by Studio Ghibli (their first foreign co-production) and Wild Bunch made the short list. Dudok de Wit previously directed the Oscar-winning short Father and Daughter. Makoto Shinkai’s acclaimed hit Your Name. and Keiichi Hara’s Miss Hokusai were elligable, but not nominated.


The 89th Academy Awards will be held on Feb. 26 at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, and will be televised live on ABC at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET.
