Teens Explore Fine Arts in New Key Visual for Senryu Girl TV Anime

 

A new key visual (above) and new cast members have been revealed for Senryu Girl (known in Japan as Senryu Shoujo), an upcoming TV anime based on the romantic comedy manga by Masakuni Igarashi about a high school girl who expresses herself through senryu poetry and her similarly artistically inclined friends.

Sayuri Yahagi as Amane Katagiri, a second year high school student and the president of the literature club. Amane loves to gossip about romance, and she watches the relationship between Nanako and Eiji closely.

Rikako Aida as Koto Ohtsuki, a third year high school student who belongs to the U.S. Army hand-to-hand combat club. Koto is Eiji’s childhood friend, and she treats him like a younger brother. Koto is cute and sexy, but also demonically strong.

Misaki Kuno as Kino Yakobe, a first year high school student and a member of the fine arts club. Kino expresses herself through the drawings in her sketch book.

And Sumire Uesaka as Tao Hanakai, a first year high school student and a member of the fortune-telling club. Tao is interested in divination more than anything else, and her predictions have a reputation of being mostly accurate.

 

 

The original Senryu Girl manga is serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The story of Senryu Girl follows Nanako Yukishiro, a high school student who belongs to the literature club and who loves to express herself through senryu poetry, and Eiji Busujima, a former-delinquent boy who was touched in the past by Nanako’s kindness and who also joins the literature club.

The Senryu Girl TV anime is directed by Masato Jinbo and features animation production by Connect. The series will broadcast in Japan as part of the MBS / TBS / BS-TBS “Animeism” programming block beginning in April of 2019.
