Studio DEEN Produces “Reikenzan” TV Anime Based on Chinese Web Novel

Japanese anime production company Studio DEEN announced on November 19 that a TV anime adaptation of popular Chinese web novel “從前有座霊剣山,” titled Reikenzan – Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage (Mt. Reiken – Stardust’s Banquet), is in the works for a January 2016 premiere on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, TV Aichi and AT-X n Japan. It is a collaboration project with Tencent Computer System in Shenzhen City, China, and will be simulcasted in China.


The novel series is written by 国王陛下 (literally means His Majesty), and its manga adaptation launched in August 2014 has been viewed over 270 million times. 31-year-old voice actor Yonaga Tsubasa, known as Ren Mihashi in Ookiku Furikabutte and Nagisa Hazuki in Free!, is cast as the protagonist 王陸 (Ouriku?). 


The story is set in the world that experienced terrible natural disasters by a falling comet. To find the

“destiny child” who was carried by the comet, the “Reiken-ha” clan that has a long history decides to

re-start its entrance examination. The protagonist Ouriku has “超霊根” (Cho-Reikon/Super Spiritual Root?)

that is said to be allowed to have only for one person in one thousand years. He now challenges the exam

to become an immortal wizard, Sennin.
