It is confirmed today that a TV anime adaptation of Masakuni Igarashi’s senryu-themed romance comedy
manga Senryu Shoujo/Senryu Girl is set to premiere in Japan in the spring of 2019. The anime ‘s official
Masato Jinbo (CHAOS;CHILD, Restaurant to Another World) serves as director/series composition writer
alongside anime character designer Maki Hashimoto (Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody chief
animation director). CONNECT (Strike The Blood) works on anime production.
29-year-old popular voice actress Kana Hanazawa (Red Blood Cell AE3803 in Cells at Work!) is confirmed
to voice the protagonist Nanako Yukishiro. She already played the 15-year-old high school girl in the manga’s
three-minute PV produced in July 2017.

The manga author also announced the news on Twitter:

The manga has been serialized in Kodasha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since October 2016, and its latest
seventh tankobon volume is set to be released on December 17, 2018. Its total print run in Japan has
surpassed 500,000 copies.
Senryu is a type of Japanese short poetry similar to haiku, but does not need to include a kigo/season word.
The story of Senryu Shoujo follows Nanako Yukishiro, who expresses her thought and feeling by writing senryu.
On the Christmas day when she was in the third grade at junior high, she joined a senryu gathering and met
Eiji Busujima, who was the same age as Nanako and an ex-delinquent boy. Nanako touched his kindness
and had friendly sentiments toward him. The two later passed the same high school and join its literary club
