Four more cast members have been announced for Megalo Box, an upcoming TV anime that celebrates the 50th anniversary of boxing anime Ashita no Joe by updating the story and setting to a futuristic world where boxers enhance their sport with powered exoskeletons. The new cast members include:
Shirō Saitō as Gansaku Nanbu, an unscrupulous boxing trainer.
Nanako Mori as Yukiko Shirato, the heir to the Shirato Combine and the sponsor of the “Megalonia” boxing tournament.
Michiyo Murase as Sachio, a street urchin who is good with computers and machines.
And Hiroyuki Kinoshita as Fujimaki, a ruthless loan-shark who is deeply involved in world of underground boxing.
Megalo Box is directed by Yo Moriyama and features animation by TMS Entertainment. The story follows J.D. (“Junk Dog”), a boxer who descends into the underground world of “Megalo Box”, in which fighters combine their training with special gear technology to create the ultimate martial art.
Megalo Box will begin broadcasting on TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) and BS-TBS in April of 2018.
