“One Piece” Anime Features Voice Actor’s Song That Inspired Creation Of Cat Viper

One Piece has some interesting veterans in its voice cast. There’s Nami’s Akemi Okamura , who was Fio way back in Ghibli’s Porco Rosso, Usopp’s Kappei Yamaguchi who debuted as Ranma’s title role back in 1989, Franky’s Kazuki Yao, who looks about as wild as his characters, and Brook’s Cho, who gets roles like the Principals in My Ordinary Life and Hidamari Sketch, not to mention the dub role of Lord of the Rings‘ Gollum.

Cho also had a song about going to visit a Nekomamushi/Cat Viper that, as noted in the last Jump Festa, One Piece author Eiichiro Oda used as inspiration for a character.  The song then showed up in the manga, and this week’s anime episode 765.
