Okushou and Shizumu Watanabe’s Death Game Manga “Real Account” Gets Live-Action Film

It was officially announced in the latest 7th issue of this year’s Weekly Shonen Magazine (Kodansha) released today on January 17 that a live-action film adaptation of Okushou (story) and Shizumu Watanabe (art)’s suspense manga Real Account is now in the works. Its release date has not yet been set.

 

 

The startegy battle series was first serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from its February to October

issue in 2014, then moved to Weekly Shonen Magazine in the following year. Its latest 18th tankobon

volume is just released in Japan today and the series has printed over 2.6 million copies in Japan so far.

  

The story is set in the world of a nationally popular fictional SNS service called “Real Account.” One day,

the protagonists are sucked into the SNS world, then forced to join an outrageous death game under the

rules: “You have to immediately die when you have zero followers” and “When the player dies, all followers

also immediately die.”
