The highly-anticipated stage play adaptation of Asa Higuchi’s high school baseball manga Ookiku Furikabutte/Big Windup! has been running at Sunshine Theater in Tokyo since last Friday. It was originally scheduled to perform 13 shows in 11 days till February 12, but after all of its advance tickets were immediately sold out, two more shows have been added on February 4 and 7.
The play’s DVD with bonus footage is set to be released on June 6. Those who pre-order the 8,000-yen disc at the theater will be able to receive it earlier than the official release day.
19-year-old Shun Nishime (Takeru Tenkuji in Kamen Rider Ghost) is cast as the protagonist Ren Mihashi, and the OP theme song for the manga’s first TV anime adaptation, “Dramatic” performed by three-member Japanese rock band Base Ball Bear is featured in the play as an insert song.
