“Marvel vs. Capcom 4” Rumors Surface Ahead of PlayStation Experience

While this remains firmly in the RUMOR category, word of a new Marvel vs. Capcom game is too good to pass up. According to a story on Polygon, “multiple sources” have told them that Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is in the works for release sometime next year. The rumored plan is to reveal the game this week, in time for the PlayStation Experience event that includes the Capcom Cup 2016 Street Fighter V tournament.

If a new Marvel vs. Capcom is announced, it will likely lean heavily on the Marvel Cinematic Universe side of things, so expect more Guardians of the Galaxy and less X-Men. As for the Capcom side, well, I guess they have plenty of past franchises to mine further. They’ve certainly been light on new IPs of late, but we’ll have to wait and see if this happens in the first place.

Capcom, naturally, “does not comment on rumors or speculation.” That doesn’t mean we can’t continue to speculate, so feel free to go wild on your dream teams in the comments!
