Manga Editor Says “Attack on Titan” Stage Play is His Idea

In addition to the announcement for the long-awaited TV anime second season, the official website for the upcoming stage play adaptation of Hajime Isayama’s mega hit manga series Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan, titled “LIVE IMPACT Shingeki no Kyojin,” also launched today. The site describes the first stage play as below:

“Roaring sound. Blast waves. Steam. Blood splashes.

The expression nobody has ever seen before. The scale nobody has ever tasted.

Titans, Corps, that battles, and that nightmares…, appear in front of you.

Those who are not been eaten enough by the papers and visuals, now it’s time to gather.”

Meanwhile, Shintaro Kawakubo (aka Back), the editor at Kodansha in charge of Hajime Isayama’s original

manga series, also said on his personal Twitter that the stage project was his idea, not by Isayama.

“I will do the ‘Attack on Titan’ stage play next summer. I do not mean to be rude, but I have a certain

direction to aim in my mind, so I have launched this project with a permission from Isayama-san. I will

take full responsibility to make it good. I want to produce it somewhat different from the previous stage

plays based on manga.”

The “Attack on Titan” stage play is scheduled to open in the summer of 2017. Advance tickets will be offrerd

to its mail magazine subscribers first. You can register it here.
