Main Visual for “Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju” TV Anime Posted

The official website for the anime adaptation project based on Haruko Kumota’s rakugo (traditional storytelling performance)-themed manga Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju today released a main visual featuring the five main characters for the upcoming TV anime to premiere in the Animeism midnight programming block of MBS, TBS, CBC, and BS-TBS on January 8, 2016.

It is also confirmed that the CD single of the TV anime’s OP song “Usura Hi Shinju” (literally means

Slight Icy Double Suicide) will be released on February 3. The song is performed by 48-year-old voice

actress Megumi Hayashibara, best known as Lina Inverse in Slayers and Rei Ayanami in Evangelion.

She has voiced Miyokichi in the show, and the OP song is dedicated to the ex-geisha character. Popular

J-Pop singer-songwriter Sheena Ringo writes/composes/arranges/produces the song, and also joins the

CD artwork. Hayashibara will perform the song for the first time in public at the promotional event for

the TV anime to be held at Tokyo Metropolitan Hibiya Public Hall on December 12.
