It was confirmed that KING OF PRISM by Pretty Rhythm, a spin-off film to the Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live TV anime aired from 2013 to 2014, had sold over 400,000 tickets at the Japanese box office in six months since its release on January 9, 2016. The news was announced to 800 fans who gathered at the film’s stage greeting event with the main voice cast and director at the Shinjuku Wald 9 theater in Tokyo last Friday.
The film focusing on the three-member male idol unit Over The Rainbow has reportedly earned 600 million yen in Japan. Even after the release of its DVD and Blu-ray on June 16, the film is still running in Japan, including 31 4DX theaters, so the record is expected to grow more. As reported, both DVD and Blu-ray of the film ranked No.1 in the Oricon weekly anime disc sales charts in its first week. The DVD and Blu-ray sold 5,000 and 13,000 units respectively.
