Japan Post Office Celebrates Makoto Shinkai’s Debut 15th Anniversary with Special Stamp Set

Internationally acclaimed 44-year-old anime director Makoto Shinkai’s first commercial short film Voices of a Distant Star was released in Japan in 2002. In commemoration of his debut 15th anniversary, post offices all over Japan and its official online store will start accepting pre-orders for a special frame stamp set featuring visuals from his anime woks on August 14. 


The 4,900-yen (about 44.95 US dollars) set includes ten 62-yen frame stamps, a 64-page message book containing Shinkai’s comments on his films (from Voices of a Distant Star to his latest Your Name.) with a sleeve case for it. Pre-orders will be accepted at the post offices till November 20, and on the online store till three days later. Shipping for the first orders by September 15 is scheduled to begin on October 20.
