Square Enix has confirmed that the anime adaptation of Million Arthur also means the revival of its official gag series, Jaku-San-Sei Million Arthur.
The original 4-panel series, drawn by Choboraunyopomi of Ai-Mai-Mi fame, was adapted into animated shorts starting in 2015. The shorts were released online via YouTube and Nico Nico.
The new season will be distributed in the same way, accompanying the premiere of the TV anime while carrying on a new series of stories.
Million Arthur is a Square Enix multimedia franchise consisting of multiple games. In them, the Magician Merlin seeks a new king to protect England from an oncoming threat. However, whenever someone pulls Excalibur from the stone, it replicates itself in search of a new hero, until a million Arthurs find themselves battling for one throne.
The anime adaptation kicks off October 25 on TOKYO MX, with Jaku-San-Sei Million Arthur returning to YouTube and Nico Nico around the same time.
