“Hozuki no Reitetsu” Returns to Hell for 2nd Season in October of 2017

Great news for fans of the TV anime adaptation of Natsumi Eguchi’s supernatural office comedy, Hozuki no Reitetsu: the oni bureaucrats of Japanese Hell will be returning to torment the souls of the wicked in a 2nd season of the TV anime that kicks off in October of 2017.

Additional details (such as the cast and staff) have not yet been revealed, although a new piece of key art (above) has been released. The new artwork features Hozuki, King Enma, and other denizens of Japanese hell surrounded by flames and sporting serious expressions.

The original Hozuki no Reitetsu manga is serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Morning seinen manga magazine. The series was previously adapted into a 2014 TV series with direction by Hiro Kaburaki and animation by Wit Studio, which Crunchyroll describes as follows:

Hozuki is the aide to the Great King Enma. Calm and super-sadistic, Hozuki tries to resolve the various problems in Hell, including a rampaging Momotaro and his companions. However, he also likes spending his free time on his hobbies, such as fawning over cute animals and raising ‘Goldfish Flowers.’
