Happy 20th Anniversary to the “Ghost in the Shell” Anime Movie

Last year, Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell manga turned 25 years old. Six years after it launched in Young Magazine, Mamoru Oshii’s acclaimed anime adaptation debuted. Technically, it opened at the Tokyo International Film Festival in October 1995, but it opened wide on November 18th, 1995, so it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the movie that inspired the Matrix and countless other sci-fi works over the last two decades (not to mention a live-action Scarlett Johansson vehicle scheduled for March 2017).
