“Gungrave VR” Takes the 2002 PlayStation 2 Game and Enhances It

Back in 2002, Sega and Red Entertainment came together to release a Gungrave game for PlayStation 2, followed by the sequel Gungrave: Overdose in 2004. Now Blueside revealed that the game is set to make a comeback in the form of Gungrave VR, an Iggymob-developed title that optimizes the PS2 game for PlayStation VR and other VR platforms with improvements.

Gungrave VR takes the destruction, infinite shooting, and “Full-Break Action” of the original game and pops its third-person perspective in virtual reality. Members of the original team are on board for this one, including composer Tsuneo Imahori and illustrator Yasuhiro Nightow. They also plan to take the story beyond what was was presented in Overdose.

A PlayStation VR release is planned for Japan sometime this year, followed by other VR devices such as Oculus Rift and HTC Vive at a later date.
