“Girls und Panzer” Film Theatrical Screening Continues till September 2

Tachikawa Cinema City in Tokyo announced on June 20 that its “Gokujou Bakuon (Superfine Explosive Sound) screening of Girls und Panzer der Film is decided to continue till September 2. The film was originally released on November 21, 2015, and is still running at 12 theaters across Japan in its 31st week even after its DVD/Blu-ray were released on May 25. Two more theaters will be added soon. 

 

 

The theater will also offer an official “Anzio” pizza at 1,400 yen from June 25.

 


 

As of June 5, the film earned 2,200,801,484 yen on 1,296,776 admissions, becoming the 17th top-

grossing Japanese film of 2015 and the second top-grossing film based on a midnight TV anime series,

breaking the previous record of 2.08 billion yen marked by Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie:

Rebellion in 2013. 

 

The special limited edition Blu-ray of the film that released on May 27 sold an impressive 162,000

units in its first week, ranking No.1 in the weekly overall Blu-ray sales chart. Its DVD/Blu-ray have

reportedly sold over 200,000 units in total in three weeks since its release.
