“Gintama” Live-Action Film Sequel Filming Wrapped Up

Two months after its start on February 10, the official Twitter for the upcoming Gintama live-action film sequel reported today on April 7 that all the filming was wrapped up, with a photo of a white-kimono character carrying his Touyako wooden sword at his waist. The caption says, “…Of course, this man, too.”



The highly-anticipated live-action sequel is set to be released in Japan on August 17, 2018. Its details,

including its official title, have been kept secret. According to the Twitter photo posted on April 3, at least

the three main characters: Gintoki Sakata, Shinpachi Shimura, and Kagura are confirmed to appear.




Also today, director Yuichi Fukuda started filming of the live-action drama adaptation of Hikaru Nakamura’s

slice of life comedy manga series Saint Oniisan/Saint Young Men.
