“Gintama” Live-Action Film Reveals Masami Nagasawa as Tae, Murotsuyoshi as Gengai

Following the previously-reported Gintoki, Kagura, Shinpachi and Katsura with Elizabeth, the official website for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi’s action comedy manga Gintama, today added visuals of 29-year-old Masami Nagasawa as Tae Shimura and 41-year-old Murotsuyoshi as Gengai Hiraga. The Justaway figure also appears in both visuals.

Tae is the older sister of Shimura Shinpachi played by 23-year-old Masaki Suda in the film, while Gengai is the owner of the machine-repair shop Karakuri-dou, who is inspired by Gennai Hiraga (1728-1780), the real Japanese inventor in the Edo period. Masami Nagasawa is known for her latest performance in Hirokazu Koreeda’s award-winning film Umimachi Diary that was based on Akimi Yoshida’s joesi manga of the same name. Murotsuyoshi’s best known character is Daisuke Kurahashi in the Yuuji Oda-starring Odoru Sousasen/Bayside Shakedown franchise.
