Follow the History of the Hulk Pt. 27

For over 50 years, the Incredible Hulk has been smashing his way through the Marvel Universe and into the hearts of fans. Whether you’ve discovered the tale of Bruce Banner and his other self through comics, TV, or film, get the whole story here…

Deep in a dream in INCREDIBLE HULK #351, the grey Hulk remembered a trip to his beloved Jarella’s other-dimensional world where the natives worshipped him as a god. After awakening in INCREDIBLE HULK #352, the magic spell cast on him on that world wore off and for the first time in three months, the Hulk changed back to puny Bruce Banner.

Trying to find out what happened to him, Banner wandered around Las Vegas in INCREDIBLE HULK #353 and discovered his alter-ego’s troubles with the Maggia crime organization. Transforming again into the Hulk, he broke up the Maggia’s attempt to use their Persuaders to take over the city in INCREDIBLE HULK #354. Meanwhile, the Hulk’s friend Marlo looked into the connection between the grey giant and Bruce Banner.

The Hulk went after Madripoorian crime boss Tyger Tiger in WOLVERINE #7, but found the situation too complicated after Logan’s involvement in WOLVERINE #8.

The cosmic gadfly Glorian returned in INCREDIBLE HULK #355 to create a special illusion for the Hulk, but the behemoth decided to kill him while Marlo watched. Glorian woke from his “death” in INCREDIBLE HULK #356, still determined to bring nobility to his friend and willing to sell his soul to do it. Meanwhile, Bruce Banner accepted a job as a janitor at a radiation treatment center in INCREDIBLE HULK #357.

With a contract signed in blood by Glorian, the demonic Satannish sent his Ghoul creature after the Hulk in INCREDIBLE HULK #358. The resulting fight brought down the house on the casino, earning our hero a pink slip from his boss. Glorian told the grey giant about his bargain with Satannish in INCREDIBLE HULK #359, and that the Hulk needed to perform a noble act to save him. The Hulk rolled the dice to save the cosmic vagabond, but the Shaper of Worlds appeared to rescue Glorian from the devilish contract.

After Banner’s ex-wife Betty lost her baby in INCREDIBLE HULK #360, the Hulk teamed with Iron Man in INCREDIBLE HULK #361 to break the Maggia’s hold on Las Vegas. Later, the Hulk hoped to reconcile with Marlo in INCREDIBLE HULK #362, but ultimately the two parted ways permanently.

Bruce Banner made friends with scientist Phil Stearns in INCREDIBLE HULK #363, but this new ally betrayed him in INCREDIBLE HULK #364 with a secretive dose of poison. When the Abomination forced Banner to change into his alter-ego with gamma radiation, the poison brought on a heart attack for the Hulk.
