Fanart Friday returns, and schnitzel sandwiches cure all. Last week, we talked with Crunchyroll’s staff to find out what their favorite titles were, but this week, we’re getting art from them! Well, not all of them–this is a slightly shorter installment, so we’ll cover all their fanart, all our reader submissions, and then we’ll call it a day a little earlier than normal.
Have something nice and chill this time around
Additionally, I was supposed to draw something specifically for this installment (decided by this poll) but I’m saving that One-Punch Man piece for next week–sorry, everybody, I had to be out of town on short notice, so I’m including a recent piece for my submission. Now, let’s get started!
DISCLAIMER: None of the art presented is the property of myself or Crunchyroll. All characters and series are tm and © their respective creators and corporate owners. All art is the creative property of their respective artists. Any artists who wish to have their work removed from this article may contact Nate, and appropriate action will be immediately taken. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN AND ARE NOT THE OPINIONS OF CRUNCHYROLL, INC., ELLATION, OR ANY EMPLOYEES THEREOF.
MARIA MORA, SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Maria didn’t actually draw anything, but her pumpkin from our Halloween party is perfect to show her love for Poyopoyo!
LOVELESS100, STORE MANAGER
And of course, Miss “Utapri or you die” Loveless100 continued with–you guessed it–another Uta no Prince-sama pic!
EVAN BEHAR, SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Not only am I glad Evan likes Puella Magi Madoka Magica, I’m also happy his favorite seems to be Tomoe! Good pick, dude!
TOM HURLBUTT, PRINCIPAL PRODUCT MANAGER – LIVING ROOM EXPERIENCES
Tom’s got the energy of My Hero Academia down pat–I actually kind of appreciate the direction that Weekly Shonen Jump is going with its art. While it still screams traditional “manga,” it’s evolved and smoothed out, with really clean-lined designs and distinct looks from different artists.
CHRIS PENELLO, SOFTWARE ENGINEER
We didn’t just get one Kiki’s Delivery Service pic from Chris, we got three! Now I’m hearing the soundtrack again…
LUGIAMANIA, SENIOR BRAND MANAGER
To be honest, lugiamania’s a busy lady, so she did what she could for Yu-gi-Oh! on what looks like one of our dry-erase office pillars! I see a Kuriboh and… and… (this is where you guys come in and help me)
EVAN MINTO, SOFTWARE ENGINEER/CRUNCHYCAST HOST
Just like you shouldn’t get Miles started with Shirobako, you really shouldn’t get Evan started on Satoshi Kon. Not that I blame him, Kon was a genius and Perfect Blue is one of my favorite films (not just animated films, favorite films) ever, so here’s Chiyoko from Millenium Actress to celebrate that well-deserved love!
NAN CHU, SENIOR PRODUCT DESIGNER
Okay, so we see a lot of art from people who don’t do art for a living, and now we see this slick-as-all-hell pic from someone who does do art for a living! Damn, I want to read The Last Order again now!
ME, CUSTOMER SUPPORT LEAD AND A BUNCH OF OTHER STUFF
Okay, I did this about a month ago, but it’s been a while since I’ve submitted to my own column! One of my favorite MMA fights of all time is Mark “Super Samoan” Hunt vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, and they’re having a rematch soon! Much like Evan B’s piece, I managed to save some of the process to completion!
And now, our reader submissions for this week!
We’re gonna keep counting down ultmte’s submissions, and here’s #96 with a Comet Lucifer piece!
And in the same way I can count on ultmte to deliver something from a new-season show, here’s celebistar with more Nobunagun love with this incredibly badass crossover pic! Sorry Sio, my money’s on Kill la Kill‘s Ryuko, I’m sure you understand.
Someone on Twitter recently put up a challenge to get them to watch any sports anime. I responded with a very simple: “Hi. Watch Haikyu!!” I think that was enough, honestly.
And that’s everything for this week!
For those of you wanting to submit your art here, behold–the FIVE FIATS OF FANART FRIDAY!
1. Your work is always welcome here, regardless of your skill level or experience. To submit work to Fanart Friday, please PM me (username Anonymooo) with a link to your work.
2. The link must be the full URL, don’t use any URL shorteners like bit.ly or goo.gl. An example of a full URL is:http://anonymooo.deviantart.com/art/Mooo-vs-Redblood-Phill-Cover-22690857
3. Your work must be hosted on a site like Deviantart or Pixiv (or your own official art website), not on Imgur, Photobucket,Crunchyroll Photos, or anything along those lines. This provides a verifiable source for the work.
4. I, and by extension Crunchyroll, reserve the right to remove or not share your work if it is deemed inappropriate. Any submissions that don’t follow these rules will not be permitted in Fanart Friday.
5. Be excellent to each other. Don’t steal anyone else’s work or make fun of artists’ submissions.
Now, here are the next three themes for Fanart Friday!
-Next week, on NOVEMBER 20th, we’re celebrating my birthday a day late with MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION LIST! Let’s do things a little differently this time: ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE WELCOME, BUT NO REQUESTS–GUESS MY TOP FIVE IN THE COMMENTS, AND I’LL GIVE OUT THREE MONTHS OF CR PREMIUM TO THE FIRST ONE WHO FIGURES IT OUT!
-Then, on NOVEMBER 27th, we wrap up the month with the annual VILLAINS installment! Expect a Disney villain song for that week’s video, surprising absolutely no one.
-On DECEMBER 4th, we celebrate the launch of Xenoblade Chronicles X with a trip through Monolith’s XENO SERIES!
Thanks again for dropping by to check out Fanart Friday! Have a great weekend, and I hope you come on by next week!
