A dynamic new key visual has been released for Inuyashiki, an upcoming TV anime based on the dark science fiction manga by Hiroya Oku about a pair of very different men who suddenly find themselves in possession of cyborg bodies powered by hyper-advanced alien technology.
The new visual shows Ichiro Inuyashiki and Hiro Shishigami fighting in the night sky above Tokyo. A new tag-line accompanies the visual, and it translates as: “If I’m the villain…does that make this old man the hero!?”
The original Inuyashiki manga was serialized from 2014 – 2017 in Kodansha’s Evening seinen manga magazine. An English language version is available in print from Kodansha Comics and digitally via Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll describes the story of Inuyashiki as follows:
Ichiro Inuyashiki is down on his luck. While only 58 years old, his geriatric looks often have him written off as a pathetic old man by the world around him and he’s constantly ignored and disrespected by his family despite all that he’s done to support them. On top of everything else, his doctor has revealed that he has cancer and it appears that he has little time left in this world. But just when it seems things couldn’t get any worse, a blinding light in the night sky strikes the earth where Ichiro stands. He later wakes up to find himself unscathed, but he soon starts to notice that there’s something…different about himself.
The Inuyashiki TV anime is directed by Keiichi Sato and Shuhei Yabuta and features animation by MAPPA. The series will join Fuji TV’s “noitaminA” animation block beginning on October 12, 2017.
