“Blade of the Immortal” Live-Action Film Official Website Reveals Visual of Takuya Kimura as Protagonist Manji

The official website for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Hiroaki Samura’s Mugen no Junin/Blade of the Immortal action jidaigeki manga today revealed a first visual of 43-year-old Takuya Kimura as its one-eyed protagonist Manji. Kimura is a member of Japanese idol group SMAP that recently announced its breakup in the end of this year. Since their managing company Johnny & Associates does not allow any internet media to post photos of their idols, you can check the Manji visual only on the film’s official website now.

In addition to the previously reported Hana Sugisaki as the main heroine Rin Asano, the site also announced nine more cast for the film, including 23-year-old Souta Fukushi (Kamen Rider Fourze) as the main villain Kagehisa Anotsu. According to Fukushi, this is his first antagonist role in his six year career, and the second work with the director Miike following the 2014 suspense film Kami-sama no Iu Toori

The film is set for a release in Japan on April 29, 2017.
