Aniplex has launched a vague but lovely 30-second trailer for one of next year’s projects: an anime film adaptation of the novel Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai (which translates to “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas”).
Written by Yoru Sumino and published in 2015, the novel follows a high-school-aged narrator who discovers a “Disease Coexistence Journal” belonging to his classmate, Sakura. Sakura has pancreatic cancer and has been given one year to live. The narrator proceeds to reflect on his time spent with Sakura and, later, her friend Kyoko. A live-action film adaptation was made recently, starring Shun Oguri and Keiko Kitagawa as the adult narrator and Kyoko.
Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai will premiere sometime in 2018.
