Voice actors Yūichirō Umehara and Natsuki Hanae are reprising their roles as a male polar bear and a male seal for an original audio drama CD of Koi Suru Shirokuma (“A Polar Bear Falls in Love”), a B.L. (“beast love”) comedy manga by Koromo. Koi Suru Shirokuma has also recently been adapted into a theatrical short with direction by Kazuya Ichikawa and animation by Gathering.
The audio drama CD will be included as a pack-in bonus with the April 2017 issue of Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Gene manga magazine, which is published in Japan on March 15, 2017. In the the audio drama, which is entitled “Fubuki no Yoru” (“The Night of the Blizzard”), Yūichirō Umehara plays Shirokuma-san, a lonely and amorous polar bear, and Natsuki Hanae plays Azarashi-kun, a seal who initially mistakes Shirokuma-san’s romantic advances as signs of hunger.
Described as a “white love story in the Law of the Jungle world” and also as a “heart-warming B.L. (Beast Love) comedy”, the original Koi Suru Shirokuma manga is published on the Pixiv Comic and Comic Walker websites. Kadokawa also publishes printed volumes of Koi Suru Shirokuma under their Media Factory Comics label.
The April 2017 issue of Monthly Comic Gene will also feature cover artwork and a “center color” spread for Koi Suru Shirokuma. It retails for 540 yen ($4.71 US).
