“Avabel Online” TV Anime Gets the Ax

Crunchyroll previously reported on how Avabel Online, a smart phone game developed by Asobimo, was being adapted into a TV anime with direction by Kenichi Imaizumi and animation by Felix Film.

Now there’s bad news for fans who were looking forward to this project, because Asobimo has announced that production on the series has been discontinued. Asobimo cites “various reasons” for the cancellation of the project. Although the principal staff and cast of the TV series were announced in April of 2016, no release date for the anime was officially set.

The Avabel Online smart phone game is available in English. Described as a “hardcore 3D RPG”, the game combines elements of monster hunting, PvP, and tower defense battles using a free-to-play model. For more information about the game, please check out the official English-language Avabel Online home page here.
