Soledad O’Brien is an award-winning journalist, speaker, author and philanthropist.   • NBC Sports Group has grown live F1 viewership by 65% (TAD of 558,000 average viewers in 2017 vs. 339,000 average viewers on FOX/SPEED in 2012);
  • With one race remaining, NBCSN is on pace to deliver the best F1 viewership for a single cable network in more than 20 years. Through 12 races, NBCSN’s coverage has produced a Total Audience Delivery of 445,000 average viewers, and has grown viewership on the network in each consecutive season of coverage;
  • With a TAD of 1.154 million viewers, NBC’s F1 coverage in 2017 (4 races) ranks as its second-best ever, and up 20% vs. 2016 (963,000; 3 races).

The 2017 F1 season concludes in Abu Dhabi this weekend – NBC Sports’ 98th F1 grand prix presentation – with Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes having already captured the respective Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships. Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) and Max Verstappen (Red Bull) have won the last two races in Brazil and Mexico, with Hamilton’s most recent win coming at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Hamilton has performed well in Abu Dhabi, winning two of the last three races (2014 and 2016).

Coverage begins on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app on Friday at 4 a.m. ET with Practice 1, followed by live coverage of Practice 2 on NBCSN at 8 a.m. ET. Seth Meyers Equals a Six-Week High in 18-49; At 1:35 a.m., Carson Daly Hits an Eight-Month High in Total Viewers

NEW YORK — Nov. 21, 2017 — “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” has won the ratings week of Nov. 13-17 in the key late-night demographic of adults 18-49, hitting a five-week high and matching “Tonight’s” biggest margin over second place in eight weeks, according to “live plus same day” results from Nielsen Media Research.

For the week, “Tonight” generated a +28% margin of victory in adult 18-49 rating versus CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” (with a 0.60 rating vs. a 0.47) and posted a +30% win over ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (0.60 vs. 0.46). The +28% advantage over “Colbert,” also achieved during the week of Oct. 23-27, equals “Tonight’s” biggest margin of victory in 18-49 since the week of Sept. 18-22, when Fallon prevailed by +35% over Colbert (0.58 vs. 0.43).

Fallon’s 0.60 average rating for last week in 18-49 is his highest since the week of Oct. 9-13 (0.61).

“Tonight” beat “Colbert” and “Kimmel” for the week in every key ratings demographic – adults, men and women 18-34; adults, men and women 18-49; and adults, men and women 25-54.

At 12:35 a.m. ET, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” finished the week #1 in the timeslot versus CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in all key demos, and in their head-to-head half-hour from 12:30 to 1 a.m. ET, “Late Night” also ranked #1 versus ABC’s “Nightline” in every key measure.

Meyers equaled his highest 18-49 rating in six weeks (0.35, matching his best since a 0.36 for Oct. 2-6) and enjoyed his most-watched week in 10 weeks (1.372 million viewers, best since 1.415 million for Sept. 4-8).

At 1:35 a.m. ET, “Last Call with Carson Daly” delivered a 0.24 rating in adults 18-49, the show’s highest in six months (since a 0.24 the week of May 15-19) and equaling the top “Last Call” rating in nearly 11 months (since a 0.26 for Dec. 19-23, 2016). In total viewers, Daly averaged 842,000 viewers overall, the biggest weekly audience for “Last Call” in eight months (since averaging 882,000 for the week of March 13-17).

Four NBC SNF games Have Topped 20 Million Viewers This Season – Doubling the Combined Total of All Other Primetime Shows This Fall

STAMFORD, Conn. – November 21, 2017 – The Philadelphia Eagles’ runaway 37-9 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on NBC Sunday Night Football last weekend averaged a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 21.2 million viewers across NBC and NBC Sports Digital platforms – ranking as the most-watched NFL primetime game since Week 1 (Giants-Cowboys, 24.7 million on NBC), according to National data released today by The Nielsen Company, and digital data from Adobe Analytics. In addition:

  • Total Audience Delivery for Eagles-Cowboys topped by 12% last year’s Week 11 SNF matchup (18.9 million viewers for Packers-Redskins).
  • The TAD of 21.2 million viewers for Philadelphia-Dallas is the largest audience for the 22 blowouts of 28-or-more points in the history of NBC’s SNF package (since ’06).
  • Eagles-Cowboys averaged 21.1 million TV viewers on NBC, marking the fourth NBC Sunday Night Football game this season to top 20 million viewersdoubling the combined total of all other primetime TV shows this fall (Games 6 and 7 of the World Series).

The Average Minute Audience (AMA) for Sunday’s live stream via the NBC Sports app, NBCSports.com, NBC.com ‘TV Everywhere,’ and NFL Mobile from Verizon was 189,000 viewers.

Fans consumed 40.3 million live streaming minutes of SNF across 766,000 unique devices, up 40% and 38%, respectively, from last year. The game’s Average Minute Audience of 189,000 is up 33% from last year (142,000).

NBC viewership for Eagles-Cowboys (not including digital) peaked at 22.8 million from 9:45-10 p.m. ET. Sunday’s game (8:31-11:17 p.m. ET) registered a national TV household rating of 11.9/21 – up 10% from last year.

NOVEMBER 21, 2017 – “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” won the key demo for the week of November 13, marking its 74th straight week as the #1 most-watched evening broadcast, according to Nielsen Research Data.

The broadcast continues its winning streak in the key demo, averaging 1.9 million A25-54 viewers and beating “ABC World News Tonight” by +75,000 viewers (+4%) and “CBS Evening News” by +484,000 viewers (+34%). Nightly News grew week over week in its key demo audience.

On Monday, November 13, “Nightly News” aired an installment of “Those Who Serve,” featuring Sgt. Justin Vinson of Newport, Tenn. and 4-year old Sawyer Schimming, who meets Sgt. Vinson each afternoon dressed in a police uniform. As Sgt. Vinson directs traffic, Sawyer sets up his own traffic cones in his yard and imitates Sgt. Vinson’s every move.

For 119 of the past 120 weeks, “Nightly News” is the most-watched among A18-49 viewers, averaging 1.3 million and topping ABC by +82,000 viewers (+7%) and CBS by +35,000 viewers (+37%).

8.5 million total viewers tuned in to “Nightly News” for the week of November 13. “Nightly News” bested “CBS Evening News” by + 1.8 million total viewers (+26%).

“Nightly News” continues as the #1 most-watched evening newscast season-to-date in the key demo, delivering its largest demo lead over CBS in four seasons.

The broadcast also continues to dominate the competition on social media with more followers on Facebook and a twofold advantage in Twitter engagement compared to “CBS Evening News.”

Second Year of Partnership Features New Innovations on Broadcast, Digital Sites and NBCUniversal Strategic Partners

 

NEW YORK – November 21, 2017 – NBCUniversal, Verizon and Macy’s announced that the 360 livestream of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® on Verizon’s YouTube page will return for a second year with enhanced camera positions including a traveling camera onboard the lead Parade float. New to the television broadcast through this year’s partnership is the first Picture in Picture activation in parade history, giving audiences non-stop content in commercial time, and a special segment produced by Verizon. Also a first, campaign elements will run on NBCUniversal strategic partners Apple News, BuzzFeed and Concert.

Olivia Culpo will return, and be joined by BuzzFeed’s Keith Habersberger, as hosts of the livestream from a co-branded stage in Midtown Manhattan that will house an audience section for Verizon Up ticket holders. The Verizon Up loyalty program rewards customers by offering special access to brands and experiences they know and love – like once in a lifetime VIP access to the parade.

Livestream viewers on Verizon’s YouTube page will have an elevated experience this year through augmented reality within the feed showing Parade fun facts and social posts, some of which will be connected to redeemable Verizon offers. The livestream will be synced with the start of the parade on November 23 at 9am EST on NBC.

As part of the NBC broadcast, Verizon will produce a 60 second segment dedicated to thanking the first responders who give up their holidays and time with their families to help keep us safe year round.

The linear parade broadcast will feature mentions of the livestream and Verizon will be one of the sponsors of the first Picture in Picture experience in Parade history. Additional marketing for the livestream effort will appear across all NBCUniversal properties leading up to the Parade.

BuzzFeed will have a homepage takeover and additional promos driving engagement to the Verizon YouTube page and poststream shoppable units promoting Verizon products. Ad units will run across Concert’s premium network through the Vox Media and NBCUniversal joint offering, and through a special “Tap to Calendar” unit on Apple News, users will be able to set a reminder to watch the 360 livestream, receiving a Calendar notification just moments prior to the event.

STAMFORD, Conn. – November 20, 2017 – Time Inc.’s (NYSE: TIME) SPORTS ILLUSTRATED (SI) and Time Inc. Productions will produce the first national telecast of the annual SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Sportsperson of the Year awards. The awards show, which was previously only available for viewing online, will air as a one-hour special Friday, December 8 at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN. The event will be held for the second consecutive year at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, on Tuesday, December 5.

“When the biggest and most inspiring names in sports come together for SI’s Sportsperson of the Year, there is a uniquely emotional and electric dynamic in the room,” said Chris Stone, Editor in Chief of Time Inc.’s Sports Illustrated Group. “People leave the event feeling like they’ve experienced something exceptional and rare. SPORTS ILLUSTRATED’S Sportsperson of the Year has been presented annually since 1954, the year the brand’s magazine launched. The honor is given to the athlete, coach, or team who best represents the sprit of sportsmanship and achievement, as well as inspires others both on and off the field.

SI’s Sportsperson of the Year event will present honors in six categories: SI Sportsperson of the Year, SI Muhammad Ali Legacy Award, SI Kids SportsKid of the Year, Rising Star, Performance of the Year and the Hope award. Past SI Sportsperson of the Year recipients have included LeBron James, Serena Williams, Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Billie Jean King, Michael Phelps and the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team.

The new bureau launches today and will operate through February, 2018. Led by bilingual reporter Julio “Gaby” Acevedo, the station’s new news bureau will deliver daily English and Spanish-language news and updates for WNBC and WNJU as well as all NBC and Telemundo-owned stations across the country. Titans-Steelers Broadcast Featured SkyCam as Primary-Viewing Angle for First Time Ever

STAMFORD, Conn. – November 17, 2017 – Last night’s Pittsburgh Steelers’ 40-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football averaged a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 13.8 million viewers across all platforms – NBC, NFL Network, Amazon Prime Video, NBC Sports Digital, NFL Digital, and Universo, according to Fast National data released today by The Nielsen Company, and digital data from Adobe Analytics and Amazon Prime.

The Steelers-Titans telecast was the first to utilize the SkyCam system to provide a live primary-viewing angle.

Total Audience Delivery measures broader consumption by calculating average minute viewing across broadcast, cable, and digital.

Thursday Night Football viewership on NBC and NFL Network peaked at 15.2 million from 9:45-10 p.m. ET. Last night’s game (8:28-11:30 p.m. ET) registered a national household TV rating of 8.2/15.

The Total Audience Delivery of 13.8 million for Titans-Steelers on Thursday Night Football topped last year’s Week 11 TNF game (13.6 million viewers for Saints-Panthers) and increased 3% from last week’s season debut of TNF on NBC/NFL Network (13.4 million viewers for Seahawks-Cardinals).

The Average Minute Audience (AMA) for last night’s live stream via Amazon Prime Video, NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app, NFL Mobile from Verizon, Watch NFL Network, the NFL app on Microsoft, and NFL Game Pass (International) was 409,000 viewers.

Amazon Prime Video reached a total of 1.7 million combined viewers worldwide for the NFL Thursday Night Kickoff pregame show and the Tennessee-Pittsburgh game. For the Thursday Night Football game alone, 1.4 million worldwide viewers initiated a stream on Amazon Prime Video, with each viewer watching an average of 42 minutes. The average worldwide audience watching Thursday Night Football for at least 30 seconds on Amazon Prime Video was 303,000.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – Nov. 16, 2017 – With its fall lineup on track to dominate the fourth quarter for a sixth consecutive year in the 18-49 demo, NBC is set to launch two of its highly anticipated midseason dramas, “Good Girls” and “Rise,” with their debuts scheduled behind a pair of formidable lead-ins.

“Good Girls,” from creator Jenna Bans, will debut Monday, Feb. 26 at 10 p.m., immediately following the spring cycle premiere of “The Voice,” featuring new coach Kelly Clarkson alongside Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

“Rise,” from creator Jason Katims (“Friday Night Lights,” “Parenthood”) and “Hamilton” producer Jeffrey Seller, will launch Tuesday, March 13 at 10 p.m. with a preview episode immediately following the season finale of “This Is Us,” NBC’s #1 entertainment series and the #1 drama on broadcast television. “Rise” will move to its regular 9 p.m. timeslot the following Tuesday, March 20.

“The Brave,” which is in the midst of its 13-episode season, has been a steady performer for the network. This past Monday’s episode equaled the show’s high in 18-49 since Oct. 9 and, despite airing opposite “The Good Doctor,” the season average for “The Brave” has outrated CBS’ “Scorpion” on eight of eight Mondays so far in 18-49. It also ranks ahead of several rival 10 p.m. dramas, including “NCIS: New Orleans,” “Blue Bloods,” “S.W.A.T.,” “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World” and “Madam Secretary.”

In L+7, “The Brave” has increased by +60% in 18-49 and +3.2 million viewers overall (5.3 million to 8.5 million). With the addition of projected non-linear ratings, the L+7 figure grows to a 1.96 in 18-49.

“Dean Georgaris and our executive producers and cast have created a compelling drama, with top-notch production values, that have captured the intense pressure facing our military personnel in the field and the analysts back home in their unrelenting fight to protect our freedom,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment. “We couldn’t be prouder of the work they all do.”

A decision on a second season will be made at a later date.

“GOOD GIRLS”
When three suburban moms get tired of trying to make ends meet, they decide it’s time to stick up for themselves by robbing the local grocery store. But when the manager catches a glimpse of one of them and the loot is far more than they expected, it doesn’t take long for the three best friends to realize the perfect getaway will be harder than they think. From executive producer Jenna Bans (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” “The Family”) comes this comedy-infused drama that mixes a little “Thelma & Louise” with a bit of “Breaking Bad.”

“RISE”
From Jason Katims, writer and executive producer of “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood,” and “Hamilton” producer Jeffrey Seller comes a heartening new drama about finding inspiration in unexpected places. When dedicated teacher and family man Lou Mazzuchelli (Josh Radnor) sheds his own self-doubt and takes over the school’s lackluster theater department, he galvanizes not only the faculty and students but the entire working-class town. Inspired by a true story.

Grassroots tournament series will have nine U.S. metro stops in first year tour

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN / November 16, 2017 SportsEngine Inc., the leading youth sports technology provider, announced today a partnership with Prep Hoops, a national grassroots basketball media and event company, to present the inaugural Prep Hoops Series powered by SportsEngine, a youth basketball tournament series that will travel to nine U.S. cities in the spring and summer of 2018.

Miami, FL – November 16, 2017 – Telemundo Deportes, the Spanish-language home of the FIFA World Cup™, will provide the most extensive, Spanish-language multimedia coverage of the Final Draw for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ on Friday, December 1 beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET. The event will be simulcast live on Telemundo, Universo and the Telemundo Deportes En vivo App. The two and half hour special will be produced live from the Kremlin State Palace in Moscow, Russia with participation from Telemundo Deportes studios in Miami. Andrés Cantor will host the coverage from Moscow, joined by Telemundo Deportes’ Carlos Hermosillo, Manuel Sol, Miguel Gurwitz, Sammy Sadovnik and Carlota Vizmanos. Ana Jurka, Copan Alvarez and Karim Mendiburu will provide additional content and coverage of the Draw from Telemundo Deportes Miami Studios.

The Draw will kickoff Telemundo Deportes’ comprehensive coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ taking place June 15- July 15, 2018.

“The Draw is the most anticipated day leading to the FIFA World Cup and we are looking forward to providing the most complete coverage and analysis of the results live from Russia,” said Ray Warren, president of Telemundo Deportes. “The event’s new format based on FIFA ranking along with the anticipation of each team’s possible paths to the final will make this one of the most exciting sporting events for our audience ahead of next year.”

The Telemundo network will extend its coverage across its programming:

“Un Nuevo Día” – Telemundo’s three-time Emmy award-winning morning show will kickoff the coverage on December 1, beginning at 7 a.m. ET, featuring special segments with Telemundo Deportes’ commentary team in Moscow.

Pre-Draw Special – The live draw presentation will be preceded by a special preview at 9:30 a.m. featuring the analysis of Telemundo Deportes’ experts who will discuss the different case scenarios for some of the favorite teams based on the new format of the draw.

Final Draw – The live presentation of the draw begins at 10 a.m. ET; Cantor will provide commentary alongside Gurwitz.

Post-show special – Following the draw, Telemundo Deportes’ experts will present in-depth analysis of the results, plus live reactions, analysis and predictions from former players, coaches and soccer personalities from around the world.

Throughout the special coverage around the Draw, Telemundo Deportes will also feature special segments and reports highlighting the most compelling stories around teams, players, rivalries and surprises around the FIFA World Cup and the 32 teams qualified. The coverage will also highlight the culture of Russia and the 11 cities and venues that will host the action.

The live coverage will also be available via Telemundo Deportes En Vivo app and TelemundoDeportes.com. The streaming will feature widgets showcasing each group’s live results as well as instant social media interaction. Telemundo Deportes’ digital and social media platforms will provide comprehensive content throughout the day, including two Facebook Live specials hosted by Telemundo Deportes’ commentators, featuring analysis and reactions prior and following the draw.

In addition, “Al Rojo Vivo,” “Suelta la Sopa” and “Noticas Telemundo” will provide special segments and content following the results.

In celebration of the Draw, Telemundo will showcase the creation of an artwork mural, live at the iconic Wynwood Art District in Miami, FL. The mural will be crafted by the renowned Miami artist Lebo who’s known for his compelling visual work, and will feature the countries participating in the World Cup using anything from cultural inspiration to star players. The artwork will be unveiled on December 1, following the Draw results.

The anticipated Draw debuts a new format for the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ where all teams will be allocated into four different pots based on sporting principles with each pot containing eight teams. The FIFA ranking will be used to allocate all qualified teams to the four pots according to their ranking in descending order, with the best seven teams along with host Russia in pot 1. The other 24 best ranked teams will be distributed accordingly in the remainder pots. FIFA said the only geographical constraint would be that no group could include two teams from the same continent, with the exception of Europe.

Africa: Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia

Asia: Australia, Iran, Japan, Korea Republic, Saudi Arabia

Europe: Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Iceland, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland and Sweden.

North, Central America and Caribbean: Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama

South America: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay
