A Champion Stands Alone in “Megalo Box” TV Anime

Voice actor Hiroki Yasumoto has joined the cast of Megalo Box, an upcoming TV anime that re-envisions the classic boxing manga and TV anime Ashita no Joe in a futuristic, cyberpunk setting, as the primary antagonist of the series.

Yasumoto plays Yuri, the solitary champion and undisputed “King of Kings” of Megalo Box. Using the latest and most sophisticated gear technology developed by the Shirato Combine, Yuri exerts himself to his utmost limits for his sponsor, Yukiko Shirato.

Megalo Box is directed by Yo Moriyama and features animation by TMS Entertainment. The story follows J.D. (“Junk Dog”), a boxer who descends into the underground world of “Megalo Box”, in which fighters combine their training with special gear technology to create the ultimate martial art.

Megalo Box will begin broadcasting on TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) and BS-TBS in April of 2018.
