Japan’s itasha trend has been growing fast and furious in recent years. The “painmobiles” are beginning to pop up at events overseas, too, displaying a fan’s love for their favorite anime and just how much time (and money) they’re willing to pour into decorating their vehicle.
A recent itasha-spotter found this Doraemon vehicle out in the wild, kitted out with decals of an infinite number of the future robot-cat crawling through tears and gaps in the car’s finish. Overall a pretty cool design — but gearheads noticed something else about the car.
The vehicle in question is a Lamborghini Aventador S, whic currently sells for 44.9 million yen (just over $400,000). It’s not the first or only time a high-end car has become an itasha canvas, but this most recent choice of car has definitely had some people looking twice. Whether it’s because of the Aventador price tag or becaues of what was done to the Aventador varies by person.
Funnily enough, this isn’t even the first time this model has gotten an anime makeover:
Regardless of opinion, it looks like someone’s managed to hike the price on an already expensive hobby.
