As Madoka Magica prepares to celebrate its fifth anniversary in 2016, its producers at Shaft greeted the Year of the Monkey with a card on their site, and more art from character designer Junichiro Taniguchi on their Twitter feed. Series writer Gen Urobuchi also made it a Madoka New Year, the additional aside that he might be able to say something about his new project in February. Kyoto Animation Launches English Site

Kyoto Animation has greeted 2016 with the launch of an English language page with information (or at least a listing and visual) on their works from 2003’s MUNTO to 2015’s High Speed! -Free! Starting Days- (meaning nothing on winter’s Myriad Colors Phantom World yet). More after the jump.

One of Japan’s most popular New Year’s traditions is the Kōhaku Uta Gassen, an annual NHK music show on New Year’s Eve in which a “red” team of female artists competes against a “white” team of male artists. This year, the 66th event got a big dose of Nico Nico Smile with an appearance by the anime and voice cast incarnation of Love Live!’s school idol unit μ’s.

“Mob Psycho 100” has made an appearance on anime studio Bone’s 2016 banner

At the beginning of December, Web manga site Ura Sunday announced that Bones (Blood Blockade Battlefront, Space Dandy) will be adapting ONE’s Mob Psycho 100 into a TV anime. ONE is also known as the author of theoriginal, self-published One-Punch Man, which was later remade with Yusuke Murata, and Murata closed out ’15 with a hand-off from Saitama. Ramza from “Final Fantasy Tactics” Coming Soon to “Dissidia Final Fantasy”

VIDEO: “Pokémon XY & Z” Team Rocket Character Song Previewed

The Pokémon XY & Z anime is being accompanied by a series of six character songs that has so far featured opening theme “XY&Z” by Satoshi (Rica Matsumoto) and ending “Puni-chan’s Song” by Bonnie/Eureka (Mariya Ise). Next up, coming January 20th, is Team Rocket’s Team Song, performed by the famous trio Megumi Hayashibara, hin-ichiro Miki and Inuko Inuyama). Check out the preview after the jump.
